HASTCO constructed a new, pre-engineered building to accommodate the fire department’s large emergency vehicles and firefighting equipment. Along with housing the fire department’s sizeable investment in vehicles and equipment, the new, larger building featured extra space for training and a day room for comfortable living during the long shifts between calls. During planning, the significant slope of the building lot hindered the building design. The side where the fire trucks enter was a higher elevation than the other. Instead of adding 6 feet of fill, our experts determined it would be more cost-effective to sink the back of the building and add a 5-foot concrete retaining wall.
