When Caterpillar needed to add a new paint facility to its growing industrial work center in Wamego, KS, they called on HASTCO’s experts to design and build the new facility that was needed. The project required extensive mechanical system engineering to incorporate the specialized lifting, painting, and ventilation equipment. HASTCO brought together experts in structural engineering and mechanical systems to address the complex objectives, including designing the paint center with different load capabilities. Half of the building is designed for a 30-ton bridge crane that spans over 70ft, while the other half is designed to support jib cranes and overhead conveyors for the paint system. An advanced ventilation system protects Caterpillar’s employees from paint fumes and overspray.
